2013 Art Ball Happenings
The 2013 Art Ball was a night full of fun, friends, and art!
It’s always lovely to be surrounded by people who share a common interest and are passionate about what they do. For Cary Visual Art, that means artists, businesspeople, and the Cary citizens. Our board is made up of bankers, realtors, and small business owners who seemingly work in unrelated fields, but are unified by a love for art and their community. This kind of network is what makes Cary one of the best places to live in the country!
The night started off with a champagne reception, accompanied by musician Bill Mann on his sax. Guests were able to meet and greet artists as they strolled through the galleries and made bids on the artworks that were donated to the art auction. People who had never met before were able to form connections through discussions about the meaning of a painting, the colors that caught their eyes, and which piece they were hoping to bring home later that evening. Groups of women and men crowded into photobooths to bring home mementos that they will have forever.
As the night progressed and guests became full of dinner and wine, the John Barker Project serenaded the crowd with hits by Sinatra, Buble, and even Cee-Lo Green. Couples danced until Lisa York took over the floor to host the live auction and entertain us with her banter. The last piece to be bid on was an oil painting that Dan Nelson had made earlier, which sold for over $1000!
Overall, the Art Ball was a huge success. CVA is already looking forward to what next year’s event will bring!
