"Mute addresses the idea of how we manipulate sound to make an emotional statement. The sound of the trumpet is strained as it struggles to escape. It speaks to the idea of external forces working to disable making a statement; however it cannot completely stop one from emoting true feelings. The conical form addresses the idea of funneling thoughts and emotions to fit in to a predetermined form or shape. Mute challenges the idea of conformity and encourages speaking your heart."
