A Beautiful Sight Indeed
This year, our 2013 - '14 Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition is beautiful. Every year is a great show, but for some reason, whether just by chance or by choice, the medley of work stretching from the Town Hall campus to the Cary Art Center seems part of a composition; they speak to each other, compliment each other and make beautiful music together. Texture and color, light and dark, cool to the touch or rough or smooth; these pieces beg the viewer to experience them to the utmost - the jolts and whimsey and thoughfulness of this collection is well worth meeting them in person.
Please visit our exhibitions pages to learn more about the artwork, artists, juror and our supporting sponsors. We also have a wonderful new Art Map which can also be viewed from your mobile phone through our QR codes on the accompanying plaques on site. This year, we are happy to announce our collaboration with Arts Access, a local nonprofit whose goal is to provide access to the arts for those with disabilities. Their skilled describers are currently working to produce an audio tour available to anyone with access to a phone. This allows those who are sight impaired to listen to detailed descriptions of the Exhibition while on site. We are very excited to work with Arts Access and look foward to sharing the exhibition with the entire community!
We start out our "Season of Sculpture" when the weather is warm and a walk down Academy Street is a pleasure; they will continue to stay through the winter and spring of 2014 and will come down next June/July. Throughout the year, CVA will collaborate with the participating scluptors in this show to conduct workshops, lectures and other educational programming to keep the community engaged in learning about the artists and their work. We also provide free guided walking tours of the exhibition. If you are a part of a small group or organization that would like to take part in a tour, please contact us. We take a great deal of pride in showcasing our artists and sharing their stories about the inspiration behind their work.
We will be taking part in the Town of Cary's Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival; come by our booth for a brochure and to learn about ways you can be involved in our organization. We look foward to seeing you!
