Call to Artists: “Quartet” an exhibition celebrating all things in 4’s

Visual artists are invited to submit their work to be exhibited and featured at the Cary Arts Center in celebration of the Cary Cross Currents Chamber Music Arts Festival anchored by the Brussels Chamber Orchestra featuring the Lipkind Quartet in collaboration with Cary Visual Art. The “Quartet” art show will open the evening of Gavriel Lipkind’s Quartet performance at the Cary Arts Center, August 4th during the Cary Cross Currents Festival. The Lipkind Quartet is one of the leading new quartets in Europe. In this show, we hope artists will respond to the concept of quartet (four musicians/artists, four movements, four colors or any other configuration of four.

Submission:

Email Artist Application Form (PDF link above and below) and images (300 dpi or higher) to: quartet@caryvisualart.org, or post to: Cary Visual Art, Attention: Clare Sifford, PO Box 4322, Cary, NC 27519. All applications must be received by 5pm on May 18, 2012 to be considered.

 

Eligibility and Guidelines:

  1. 1. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and reside in the U.S.
  2. 2. All submissions must be received by postal mail or email by May 18, 2012.
  3. 3. Artists must be able to arrange transport of work to the Cary Arts Center (101 Dry Avenue, Cary) by July 31, 2012.
  4. 4. All work must be original.
  5. 5. All artwork must be for sale.
  6. 6. Artwork must have a quartet theme (ie: 4 media, 4 artists, 4 colors, 4 panels, etc) and the theme selected must be specified below.
  7. 7. Artwork must not exceed 40 cm x 40 cm, must be 2-D and hang-ready (mounted, framed, wired, etc). Size restriction lifted
  8. 8. Work must be suitable for indoor installation.
  9. 9. Artists are responsible for delivery and pick-up of their artwork if it is not sold by October 1, 2012 or the artwork becomes property of CVA.
  10. 10. While all reasonable care and precaution will be taken in the handling and installation of the work, BCO & CVA will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any work, nor liability for the artist. BCO and CVA advises that all artists insure their artwork.
  11. 11. BCO & CVA reserves the right to photograph any work for documentation, education and publicity purposes without additional compensation. 12. Participation in the entry process constitutes a full understanding and acceptance of the conditions set forth above.

  13. Fees: $10 fee per entry. Payment accepted securely through PayPal by check payable to Cary Visual Art, PO Box 4322, Cary, NC 27519.
"Quartet" Entry Fee

Sales: 30% of the sale of any artwork will be divided by the Friends of the Brussels Chamber Orchestra and Cary Visual Art. Calendar: o Entries must be submitted by May 18, 2012. o Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance will occur the week of June 4, 2012. o Accepted artworks must be delivered to the Cary Arts Center (101 Dry Avenue, Cary) by July 31, 2012 and picked up if not sold by October 1.
