Claire Smith is 2014 Art Ball Chair
For a second year in a row, Claire Smith is the 2014 Art Ball Chair. As an avid supporter of the arts, an engaged volunteer and an exemplary member of the Cary Visual Art Board of Directors, Claire brings excitement, hard work and dedication to the planning and execution of the Art Ball, CVA's largest and biggest celebration of the year.
Planning the event is no small task. In 2013, Claire and the Art Ball Committee were successful in presenting another beautiful evening, at the 17th Annual Art Ball at Prestonwood Country Club. Cary Visual Art has since transitioned from an events-based fundraising model towards a more programmatic, year-round support schedule, which means the Art Ball is more important than ever to celebrate a busy and productive year with our supporters and friends.
Claire has lived in Cary for most of her life, and a supporter of Cary in all ways. Beginning her career at Hair Waves Salon in 1984 where she still resides, Claire loves being a stylist. She is a Redken certified Hair Colorist as well as a Redken educator.
She believes in giving back to the community and does this through the many fundraising projects held at the salon, being a member of the Cary MacGregor Rotory Club, a member of the Cary Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and a volunteer with the North Carolina Theater as well as Artspace in Raleigh, NC.
The 2014 Art Ball - Sparkle and Shine!
This year's Ball will have special music by The Catalinas, a special art auction and announce winners of CVA's first Photography Competition and Exhibition, dining, dancing and celebration of this year's Honorary Chair, Rose Edwards.
The Ball is not possible without detailed planning, coordination and teamwork. CVA is grateful for the work of Claire Smith and the entire Committee for their hard work and dedication to the arts in Cary!
