Introducing the CVA Young Cary Artist Educational Scholarship!
Cary Visual Art, Inc is pleased to announce the CVA Young Cary Artists Educational Scholarship Program. A $1000 sum will be awarded to a high school senior who plans to pursue a college degree in the arts this upcoming Fall. In order to be considered, the applicant must either live in Cary or attend a Cary high school and have demonstrated extensive service to the arts in his/her school or community.
In 2014, CVA’s programming naturally began to shift from events based around our annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition (OSE) to also include educational workshops and outreach. The Young Cary Artists Scholarship is just one of ways we plan to expand our reach and promote the growth of the arts in our community. The committee that developed this scholarship consists of art teachers, retired teachers, fundraising experts, art consultants and more. Many evenings were spent meeting to discuss the benefits of an an award of this sort to a high schooler in Cary. The guidelines have been debated and revised until we finally had a product we felt was perfect.
The art world is small and close-knit, and generally thought of as hard to break into. For this reason, many forego pursuing a degree in art in favor of a more traditional educational path. However, people who work in the arts report high levels of job satisfaction. Whether you decide to teach, curate, paint or design, the creative fields are intellectually stimulating and highly rewarding. It is our hope that in providing this scholarship we can help feed back into the very community that has been supporting CVA for many years.
The deadline for the CVA Young Cary Artists Educational Scholarship Program is March 13.The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, community involvement, leadership potential, and extracurricular activities. Proof of college admittance is required before the scholarship is paid. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college/university of choice.
